Blackberry Enterprise Corporate email (BES) syncs calendar, contacts, and emails. By default, it only syncs the Inbox and Sent Items. BES activations require the company administrator or Utopia staff to add the user to the BES server and setup an activation password. In addition, BB devices must be provisioned for BES corporate email with their phone carrier for this to work. By default, most plans do not include this unless the customer specificially requests it.
*** BES activation will download only your past 14 days or 750 messages or whichever is greater to your inbox folder only. In order to download the past 14 days or 750 messages or whichever is greater to any other mailbox folders or subfolders, you must first contact Utopia Support and provide which which folders you would like redirection enabled PRIOR to activating your device****
Once you have received an Enterprise Activation password from us, perform the following steps to activate your Blackberry:
1) Go to the Enterprise Activation icon (or it is available under Settings/Options/Adv Options)
2) Enter your email address
3) Enter the password provided by Utopia Password is in email generated by new Control Panel and sent to the user.
4) Click the wheel and choose Activate (click the wheel once more) **BB Storm users can use thier BB menu button rather than mouse wheel**
5) It will start to download services
6) Once the services have downloaded it will initialize them
It will take about 20-40 minutes for the entire process to complete.
Your device will populate your Outlook Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, Notes and the last 2 weeks (or 750 messages) of your Inbox.
If the device does not activate, confirm with the carrier that the data plan has the BES service (Blackberry Enterprise Service) enabled. There is no extra charge, but sometimes you need to ask for it.
BIS Service will only allow BB Device to send and receive email. It will NOT sync calendar or contacts. But, there's no additional fee for BIS service.
